Within the pressures of everyday life, help me, heavenly Father, to rise triumphant in my faith over every adversity and give You the glory for every defeat of the evil one which I achieve or witness. May I be so victorious over the enemy that I have no fear of him! AMEN

Use these for group work, or to assist your personal reflection.

  1. Look carefully at the prophetic speech of the angel, and discuss all the different things that are said in your group. Make sure you understand each one.
  2. Discuss what you think Abraham and Isaac must have thought as they journeyed home.
  3. What does the New Testament teach us about faith which tells us more than what we learn here (if anything)?

Use the programme which can be found on the link ‘discipleship challenges’. The ‘worksheet’ will help you follow through anything you feel is right to take up. The following notes are for your interest and consideration.

Personal comment:

God’s purpose for our lives is that we take our place within His plan for the salvation of the World. That may seem to be far-fetched, but it is true. Abraham could have lived out his entire life believing that he experienced little more than a ‘good time’, for he saw few of the promises God made to him come true. The fact that we have his story is testimony to his faith and that of his descendants that God was doing far more in him than he knew. God’s people today will only find their true vocation when they realise that all they have to do is follow the Lord closely and stick to His agenda for the salvation of the world and the defeat of all evil through Jesus Christ.
