Personal comment: The idea of being an imitator of God is a powerful one, and one which extends far beyond this text and what we have discussed today. I find that I can only begin to be like God if I come to know Him more and more, particularly through knowing more about Him by reading God’s Word and praying.
Ideas for discipleship programme
- Try to find someone at church who you can bless by encouraging them in Christian love. In this way, you will help them be more like God.
- Write down a list of the sins which are prevalent in your society and which can quickly transfer to your church. How close is this list to what you have just read, and how can it be dealt with?
Your Passion, Lord Jesus, teaches me to love. Help me to follow your example, to ‘take up my cross’ and follow You. I do not know exactly what this means or where it will lead me, but You do; and I trust You all the way. Thank You Lord Jesus: AMEN
