Use these for group work, or to assist your personal reflection.

  1. Discuss in your group how you can learn to be ‘imitators of God’.
  2. In what ways do you ‘walk in love’ and what does this mean? Try to find ways which make this advice practical and real.
  3. How can we live a life of ‘thanksgiving’ (5:4) and so repel the temptations to impurity mentioned by Paul?

Use the programme which can be found on the link ‘discipleship challenges’. The ‘worksheet’ will help you follow through anything you feel is right to take up. The following notes are for your interest and consideration.

Personal comment: The idea of being an imitator of God is a powerful one, and one which extends far beyond this text and what we have discussed today. I find that I can only begin to be like God if I come to know Him more and more, particularly through knowing more about Him by reading God’s Word and praying.

Ideas for discipleship programme

Your Passion, Lord Jesus, teaches me to love. Help me to follow your example, to ‘take up my cross’ and follow You. I do not know exactly what this means or where it will lead me, but You do; and I trust You all the way. Thank You Lord Jesus: AMEN
